stumbleupon.jpgI wrote a post last week titled “How Subscribing to RSS Feeds Can Help Improve Your Conversation Skills” The point of that article was to show you that there is an easy way to stay up to date with the latest headlines and to educate yourself on an endless array of topics you might find interesting.

Many of you guys requested that I list some sites that I recommend subscribing to. In that article I linked out to a handful of sites in various categories that would give you a good start.

If you’re looking for more blogs to add to your list of feeds then here are some good ways to find them.

1. Go to Technorati popular blogs page. This is a list of the top 100 blogs that people are reading. This is a surefire way to get you to the mainstream sites. These sites are updated frequently and read by many.

2. Join Stumbleupon. This free service has quickly become my favorite way of surfing the internet. What it does is allow you to pick topics that you like, and then hit “stumble” and it will bring you to a various site that other “stumblers” have approved of. I’ve found a whole shit load of “hidden gems” through doing this. For those of you looking for joke and humor sites, you can search by a humor category…I’ve found some funny stuff. Its quite fun too, as you get to recommend sites as well. (Don’t forget to stumble this site regularly to spread the word!!)

3. Go to Digg.com. Digg is another good social media site that allows users to “digg” the sites they like. Digg is good for offbeat news, technology, and politics. I’ve found Stumbleupon to be the better of the social media sites because it allows me find sites outside of the box. If you’re an active digger… don’t forget to digg the articles on this site you find helpul.

Hope this helps you guys to find some good sites to add to your list of RSS feeds. If you find some good ones make sure you share them with the rest of us.

Stumbleupon is a great place to find interesting things. There are a lot of networking sites available. I also like blogcatalog and cre8buzz as well.

mikster’s last blog post..Another Silly Question, Another Silly Answer

I do not think that lack of conversational skills stems from not staying current with the latest headlines. Fluff talk is not going to build deep rapport and while staying up to date with the latest headlines in a variety of areas may make you more knowledgeable, if you do not know how to engage other people to begin with, all that information will do little to aid you socially.

    Yummy,

I agree that you need to know how to build deep rapport with a woman…

But i disagree that having knowledge of multiple topics doesn’t help you socially.

There is a huge phase of a pickup called “comfort building” and during that phase you have to be able to talk about things that keep her interestd… not all girls will let their guard down immediately..

many people dont realize this cause Neil Strauss skips through this in the game… he makes it seem like you open, neg, do a routine, and then you’re fucking her… from from true. He leaves out the long part where he’s talking about the books he written, the celebs he’s met…

There is no way someone can spend all their time on a site like this.. and then go out and talk to people socially… what the hell would you talk about? Pickup?

For me anyway, I use situational openers the most.. and being up to date on a lot of subject allows me to do this easier…

Either I did a poor job at expressing my opinion or you misread what I wrote, but either way there was a miscommunication somewhere :-(

I agree that being up to date on many subjects can be very beneficial, however, if a person is having trouble having conversations with girls, or guys for that matter, then it is probably rooted in something deeper than just not staying on top of the latest stories.

Many people, without staying up to date in an active way with news and entertainment stories (by reading on a daily basis blogs, newspapers, etc.) have a wealth of information and knowledge of what is going on in the world around them but just do not know how to engage another person in conversation and convey that information and knowledge in an effective and interesting way.

It is the same thing with openers, you can have a thousand openers memorized, but if you do not know how to approach and deliver them, then what use are they?

You have a great point stale bread, I think that is why they always tell people to start with “canned material” routines help them through those times.

These full routines, although sometimes cheesy, allow the shy insecure male to be confident where he is going with the conversation. Once they are comfortable, they can then expand their knowledge and work newer topics into their daily conversational skills.

Most people in this industry start out with little or no skills when it comes to talking to women. Teaching them how to be comfortable is the first step, then helping them tailor their conversational skills to topics of their interest helps them make the material their own.
