2. Tragen Sie nicht Denimhemden

Unless you work on a farm, or are auditioning to be the next Marlboro Man you should throw out any denim shirts that you might have lying around your closet. Denim shirts are not the kind of thing you buy, they are the kind of gift you get from a clueless aunt. Don’t worry about hurting her feelings. Chuck them.

3. Don’t wear Oakleys

Unless you’re heading to watch a Nascar Race, Oakleys will just make you look completely eighties. And if you absolutely must wear Oakleys, never ever wear them with Croakies.

4. Don’t wear pants that are too tight

Unless you are a biker or a rock star, you should never wear pants that show off your bulge. It is not sexy. It is creepy and makes you look like the weird clueless uncle.

5. Don’t wear square-toe shoes

The moment for these shoes passed years ago, and you are probably not cool enough to bring them back.

6. Don’t wear athletic sneakers anywhere but the gym

If you’re capable of playing a game of basketball in them, you probably shouldn’t wear them out. Any type of cross trainers, basketball shoes, or New Balance fit this list.

7. Don’t wear t-shirts with logos or slogans

Unless it is a legitimate vintage t-shirt, and your name is Johnny Knoxville you probably don’t want to wear a a shirt with a slogan like “Vote for Pedro” or “I’m Friends with Tom on Myspace.” This is not to say that t-shirts can’t be cool. They just have to be the vintage type… not the mock vintage type they sell in Kohls.

8. Don’t tuck a shirt into jeans

Pull it out old man. Whoever taught you this was cool was clearly clueless.

9. Don’t wear white socks with shoes

You could be wearing a five hundred dollar pair of shoes, be spitting the best game in the world… the minute a woman sees you wearing white socks with shoes you’ve been exposed as a chump. Sorry.

10. Don’t wear leather bomber jackets

They are just not as cool as you think they are. Leather jackets are fine. But if its got the fruffy collar, chuck it.

I have to Disagree with number 7 but in the same breath though, if the shirt you are wearing is one of the following:

An inside thing from a movie/TV
    Involves internet joke
You’ve seen someone wearing the same shirt on the street, in the club or on TV

You need to go home and throw it out.

    8. What kind of shirt are we talking about? I see a lot of assclowns wearing dress shirts untucked (my guess is you’re one of them). It’s a shirt that is designed to be tucked in. It’s cut long on purpose to make sure it stays tucked in and doesn’t rest just past your waistline like a shirt meants to be worn untucked will (tee shirt, polo, etc). Since you can easily sub in a nice park of clean, dark jeans when going out nowadays, you should be tucking your dress shirts in.

PUAs have taught me a lot about interpersonal dynamics, relationships, the female mind, evolutionary psychology, etc. but some of them are also the same type of folks who will wear a flashing belt buckle or airbrush a bunch of shit on the back of a sport coat. Class and wealth, though correlated, are separate. Walking around with your dress shirt untucked shouts to the world you’re an ignorant pleb.

    I wasn’t talking about dress shirts… but even then…

I respectively disagree… If you are out on the town, wearing jeans and have your shirt tucked into them… you will look like the ass clown.

You’re point about dark jeans is iffy to me… maybe with dark jeans you can get away with it if you’re going for a certain look.

Any other type of pants is fine to tuck a dress shirt into when out… but not jeans.

This is not to say you can’t wear a dress shirt tucked into jeans for a business meeting, work, or other occastions… but not to social get together, if you’re under 40.

I’m with you on that Bobby. I remember my mom would tell me to tuck in a button-up shirt when i was wearing jeans with it whenever i got to church and it looked absolutely ridiculous. Now if you’re talking like Button-Up, Wranglers, Big-Buckle Belt, and Cowboy Boots then yeah.

As for #5, square-toed shoes are fashionable, but it depends on what you’re wearing them with. Mainly i think they go very well with a nice sharp suit.

I don’t see how this list of “rules” is consistent with the ideas of self confidence and inner game principles that are typically advised on sites like these. This is really just a list of ways to fit in with the crowd.

I disagree. Personally I want to know what is fashionable. I’m young and active and don’t want to be going out looking like a shleb.

For a lot of people, their lack of self confidence comes from a feeling of insecurity in that they don’t know how to dress, or groom themselves properly. This post is for those guys.

For the guys who have reached a spiritual consciousness where they no longer care how they appear… God bless them… I hope I get there some day!

I may come off sounding like a jerk here, I don’t intend to, I know your post is just trying to offer some friendly advice, so just take this as the other side of the argument:

The root of that insecurity comes from those guys buying into the idea that people like you will judge them if their shirt is tucked in. Being fashionable and trendy is all well and good if that is where you derive your confidence from, but to say that someone is a “schleb” or “ass-clown” because they do some of the things in this post doesn’t make sense.

Besides, I have a slogan shirt that simply reads POKER KING across the chest. Multiple times girls have approached me to ask about it. I wear fresh, white on white Jordans out all the time and they have done nothing but boost my confidence because I love the way they look. Why would I worry that somebody else thinks I need dress shoes and black socks all the time?

    Bobby Rio Reply:

    Hey

You make some solid points… and you’re right, this was just a friendly post intended for some guys looking for some fashion tips.

If i wrote it in way that offended people who wear these items… I appologize that wasn’t my intention, and in fact i often wear slogan shirts.

These were general tips based on various fashion mags, and tips from girls i know and stuff… there not set in stone, and maybe I should have been looser with my definitions.

But like i said, the fact is, there are guys that genuinley want this kind of knowledge… so why it may not be on the highest plain of spirituality to discuss fashion in defiinitive terms… it was just a humorous way to get the points across.

Is it okay to wear long sleeved undershirts beneath a t-shirt?

One thing I’ve never been able to figure out… I’ve read on this site (and others) that belt buckles are a good way to peacock. I’m assuming that most wear belt buckles with vintage t-shirts and maybe polos but if you don’t tuck your shirt in as suggested above, how is one to see said belt buckle?
