Although I found the movie incredibly long, predictable, and often times boring… there are a few lessons.
Lessons from the Sex and the City movie
- Women love sex. Women love talking about sex. No matter how proper a women seems when she’s with you, when she’s with her female friends… she’s most likely chatting about sex at some point.
- Women still want romance. Yes… you have to give them their fill of romance in the alpha male way… and yes women are guided by stronger forces like social approval… but deep down women want Prince Charming (they just want him to be kind of a dick)
- Women are obsessed with fashion and clothing. I swear the girl I’m currently dating goes to the mall at least twice a week. I could go a whole year without stepping foot in a mall. But women love looking at clothes. This is one of the reasons we’ve added a bunch of fashion writers to contribute men’s fashion advice here.
- Women like shitty movies. While I was bored senseless… every girl in the audience was laughing, crying, clapping during various parts of the movie. It just goes to show you that the kind of things men find entertaining are quite different than what women find entertaining.
- Every girl no matter how much she swears she’s “cool” with not getting married or wants “a small wedding” is just dying for that huge ceremony to show off that diamond ring you spent 2 months pay on… never let them fool you with the “i’m not the married with children type”… They all want it. All of them.
I don’t necessarily recommend it but the Sex and the City box set will give you you’re fill of female talk… you might learn a thing or two… I really think men would enjoy the show more if one of the four women was actually hot. Sarah Jessica Parker is one ugly man. (in my opinion)

I went to a Doctor Paul seminar in Chicago about a year ago, and he talked about it the same way I guess David Wygant did. Basically, the four women outline the four personality types and how to react to them differently. Eg. his KWML model. Very cool stuff.
I then… despite better reasoning, bought the Boxed Set. I actually ended up enjoying it, but it was more intriguing to see how females perceive our actions towards them.

I am Mr. Big…I am the fairytale..lol
His character is a great alpha male role model. Think about it, his nick names are “Mr. Big” and “Batman”.

I learned your five Sex and the City lessons just by having females in my life. I really think if you want to learn about women you should get out there and interact with them in real life and not watch scripted shows.
I would go as far as saying you would learn far more in 5 hours of interacting with real women than you would learn from watching the 45+ hours of this show.
Maybe having the boxed set in your bachelor pad might be an interesting prop though…

If there is anything you can learn from Sex in the City its that women love sex. This is particularly true for older women that are confident enough to talk about it.

I think the show is great for learning alpha male behavior, especially the comparison between Big, the alpha, and Aidan, the rugged beta. Outside of that, it can be excruciating.

I gotta agree with mack, specially the part of having it as a prop or lure.
A woman loves a man that will sit down and watch the show with em, but its too much to ask them to watch the sopranos or oz with u,lol.
**I wonder how easy it would be to pick up a woman after the movie, I might just have to go see it

I’m a big fan of the original Sex in the City series on HBO (the one with tits and swearing) and I still swear by it. It’s one of the best written television shows of all time and it’s great comedy. At the time, it was pretty ground breaking perspective on modern dating and singlehood, especially for mainstream television, ESPECIALLY from a female perspective. You’ve got everything in there, from commentary about m-f relationships, gay marriage, threesomes, squirting orgasms, nymphomania, you name they’ve addressed it. I’ve even gone so far as to make a nice convo routine out of the show I use on dates.
For a more updated take from the male perspective, try Entourage. That show is the friggin bomb.

So true Lance,
I love the entourage series, I just hope they can continue it with such power. If you think about it, Sex in the City had such a long run and really never went stale.
Last season of entourage was Ok, I am very curious to see what the new one has in store.
btw: Can’t wait to party and hang with you down in the DR!
