Recently most people have started to shy away from the canned openers and indirect stuff due to the Vh1 show and the growing corniness within the pick up community. What would be a better, more “up to date” “opener” that you guys would use and more specifically what would be a good “opener” or way to approach for a younger guy (in HS) like me?

Ok here’s my story:
There is this girl I’ve know for a while but really only an acquaintance. 3 or 4 months ago she asks me to go with her to a concert that she had free tickets for. I went there not really planning on making any moves, but towards the end of the night we were holding hands and if I pressed it I think I could have gone for a kiss. At the time I wasn’t looking for a relationship, but now I think it might be a good idea. We aren’t in the same social circle, and I’ve only talked to her a couple of times since then. (While we aren’t in the same circles its easy to bump into her as we share the same actives)
How do I go about trying to start something up again?

Question: Had this debate with a fellow attendee at the Mansformation weekend. I use very simple openers almost exclusively, such as “Hi, how ya doing?” or “Hey, what’s up?”
My take is that I’m the coolest cat in the interaction and it’s their job to ask me questions and prove themselves to me. When I do crazy opinion openers or routines-based openers, I feel like I’m qualifying myself right off the bat. Also, I can usually suss out quickly if the target is cool and fun with simple openers, because they’ll open up quickly (cool) or slowly (uncool).
What’s your take?

Thanks for for all the great work. A common theme I’m hearing about in the PUA community is passion. Girls want men with a something better to do; something that’s more important than getting laid.
My passion is philosophy. When I was in eight grade, I purchased a college textbook on epistemology and read it cover to cover, just for fun. That’s how intense I am.
It’s difficult, though, to get women interested in my passsion. My wingman likes to show women pictures of skateboarding stunts; all I can show women are my essays on metaphysics.
Anyway, I was just wondering how I could make that connection with women so that they appreciate what I do how damn good I do it. Thanks again for your work.

I’ve got the same question as aaron. My eyes are also my best feature. I know thats incredibly specific to us, so maybe I should generalize the question: How do you utilize peacocking to show off your better features?

1) When going for a girl’s number, is it better to ask for it or tell her something like Let’s exchange numbers or Give me your number? Well keeping in mind that as the alpha male you shoud always be leading?
2) What are some good was to transition from the conversation phase to the number close? Lets say you have her laughing and you are both being physical, what would be a way to transition to get the number without things seeming forced or awkward?

reply for DAVID HUME: one thing you can do is make sure the interaction is fun and interesting for her… see if you can make her understand that there is a real chance that the sun will not be rising tomorrow and tonight may very well be her last night on earth. how would she like to spend it? Put the Philosophy talk into real life situations that your average “JANE” can understand and appreciate. Be witty, entertaining, and blow her mind.. don’t tell her about your interest in philosophy show it to her. describe a fun moral/ethical dilemma for her to answer.. for example: would you accept a million dollars if it meant that some guy in china would kill over on his bike? would you rather be crazy & beautiful or Plain & sane? or how much money would it take for you to eat a panda bear poo sandwich? (my price is $25,000)
also don’t get too involved in a serious conversation.. remember you are building comfort and creating attraction so you want to have her in an positive emotional state and not a logical thinking one.
