4 Essential Sweaters for the Fall...

I love when the weather cools down a bit because it really gives you the opportunity to get creative with your wardrobe. It is no secret that the key to a fashionable outfit is the proper use of layering. In the summertime this is just not always possible, unless you don’t mind soaking your back with sweat.

If you’re going out shopping for some new fall clothes, I would recommend picking up at least one of these four popular sweaters. Personally I own all of them, and tend to wear a lot of sweaters in the fall and winter seasons as I love the way they fit me.

Four Sweaters You Should Own

1. Crewneck: A crewneck sweater is great because you can wear it over a dress shirt, or simply a t-shirt underneath it. It is really the material that separates what you crewneck should be worn with. A cotton crewneck will work with jeans and tee for a casual night out. If you’re going somewhere a little more dressy would probably want to wear a cashmere crewneck with a collared shirt underneath.

Every man should have at least one solid grey crewneck in his closet, it is a versatile piece of clothing that can be worn for any occasion.

2. Turtleneck: Here is a warning… most turtlenecks you see in stores should be avoided. Any of the brightly colored ones, bulky ones, or thick ribbed ones have no place in a players wardrobe. The turtleneck you choose should be slim fitting with a lightweight material.

Turtlenecks look great with a blazer, or under a suit. It is definitely the item that you should own at least one of. Black would probably be the safest choice.

3. V-Neck: This is my favorite type of sweater, and apparently Justin Timberlake’s too. You should have a couple of these in your closet, preferably thin wool or cashmere, to wear over collared shirts. If the v-neck is deeper, just wear a fitted t-shirt underneath. Once again, dark grey is my favorite color for v-necks, with black finishing a distant second.

The one piece of advice for wearing a v-neck is make sure you wear something underneath it. It is not meant to be worn bear chested underneath.

4. Cardigan: Although cardigans are still slightly associated with old men or Kurt Cobain wannabes, they are great way to take jeans and white t-shirt, and make them suitable cocktail-hour attire. Make sure the cardigan you buy is snug and made with top quality material.

A thin cardigan can give you that same look as wearing a blazer.

The great thing about owning these four sweaters is that they provide an abundance of different outfits since you can mix and match them so many different ways.

I am still trying to figure out how I can wear sweaters well. Just never felt comfortable in them. But I’m thinking it’s because of the bulk and the material. I think lighter material will look better. I am definitely going to invest in a v-neck and crew though.

I can only agree to Invinity, those that you show here are far away from being in my world. Shirts, hoodies, or whatever, but not something that is either pink or looks like this :)
