LostI’ve made it abundantly clear that I am pro-supplement when it comes to physical fitness.  I take close to 10 different vitamins and supplements daily.  I have experimented with various supplements over the years and have settled on a regimen that I feel has suited my needs nicely.

My weight training various in intensity and I design my regimen to match my current level of intensity.  At the moment I’m more focused on creating an abundance of energy (without caffeine) then I am on explosive muscle growth.. so my regimen reflects this.

I am constantly reading up on the latest news in the supplement world, and was happy to see today the Bodybuilding.com released their 4th annual supplement awards.  The Bodybuilding.com Supplement Awards are the industry standard for recognition of the best products and brands in the fitness and supplement industry.

All nominations were based on sales, and since customers’ opinions are what truly count, Bodybuilding.com let the general public provide 100% of the final vote this year.

The 2008 Bodybuilding.com Supplement Awards winners are:

Overall Supplement of the YearOptimum 100% Whey Protein (4th year in a row!)
New Product of the YearMuscleTech Anabolic Halo
Muscle Builder of the YearBSN NO-Xplode (4th year in a row!)
Fat Loss Product of the YearNutrex Lipo 6 (4th year in a row!)
Energy Product of the YearBSN Atro-Phex
Weight Gainer of the Year - BSN True-Mass (2nd year in a row!)
Protein Powder of the YearOptimum 100% Whey Protein (4th year in a row!)
Protein Bar of the YearNext Detour Bars (3rd year in a row!)
Creatine Product of the YearBSN CellMass (4th year in a row!)

Nitric Oxide Product of the YearBSN NO-Xplode (4th year in a row!)
Multi-Vitamin of the YearUniversal Nutrition Animal Pak (4th year in a row!)
Tanning Product of the YearPro Tan Instant Competition Color (3rd year in a row!)

I think this is a good idea to recognize the top selling supplements like this.  The supplement industry is largely unregulated… and it helps from a customers perspective to see what others are buying.  Although it doesn’t necessarily mean its the best on the market… the fact that it has outsold its competitors means that the product has to be of some value.

I know, so many people complain and bitch about how you don’t need any supplements, just a good diet. While that could be true, (it’s not for me, as my diet sucks) I still wonder why not everyone would want as much efficiency from their weight training as possible(I’m talking about protein supplements and such, not steroids).
