Translation Be Gone-Bye: Fun With Movie Posters

Let?s play a little game. As you know, the world has a whole lot of languages. And sometimes, these languages don?t exactly have a one-to-one translation. The famous example is that the Eskimos have something like a hundred different words for snow while us, the Regular Folk, only have one. But this happens for lots of words, and there?s no better example of this then the translations of American movies in various foreign markets. For example, the title of Annie Hall in Germany? Urban Neurotic. As you can see, these foreign titles have a way of being pretty direct; Urban Neurotic certainly hits it on the nose.

A few months ago, the folks at Huffington Post put together a slide show of a bunch of these alternate titles. As a little game you can play while you wait for the rest of your work day to breeze past, below are the foreign names. See if you can guess what American movie it?s trying to describe!

If You Leave Me, I Delete You
The Gun Died Laughing
The Jungle Died Laughing
The Ball Died Laughing
Warm Shots
Slightly Pregnant
His Great Device Makes Him Famous
Vaseline
Six Naked Pigs
American Virgin Man
Captain Supermarket
