About the Author
Meital Dohan is one busy lady. Besides her acting resume in America (which features performances on such programs as “The Sopranos” and “Weeds”) she has an entire other career back in her homeland of Israel, starring in “Screen Warriors” and “Ugliest Esti”, the Israeli version of “Ugly Betty”, where she played the lead comedic role. That last one has us questioning the eyesight of the Israeli people; there’s not enough makeup to make us believe she’s ugly. In between cross-world flights, Meital was kind enough to answer some of our questions.
You were in Showtime’s “Weeds”. Do you partake in recreational activity, especially while out here with the very loose laws in Los Angeles?
Recreational activity implies a very broad spectrum of possibilities, but I’ll leave the exact details of my indulgences to the depths of your imagination.
What’s the biggest difference between your time in Israel and in America?
Israel is like one big kibbutz and everyone knows each other, everyone is best friend’s with each other, and everyone knows everything about each other.
It says on your website you split time between LA, NY and Tel Aviv. My god, how many airplane miles do you fly a year?
I think me and Obama might have similar sky millage if we were to do the calculations.
What’s the worst pick-up line you’ve ever been subjected to? Do Israeli men use a different style of ways to pick up girls than American men?
“Where’s your husband? He didn’t come tonight?” American men are very excited about technology and use text message and e-mail to communicate, while an Israeli guy will just grab you from your shoulder and go right in for it.
Has a pick-up line ever worked? Or, I guess, what would work?
The best thing is honesty and when a guy is just completely straightforward and speaks his heart. That is the most charming.
What can we expect from you in the next few years? What’s your next project?
I just finished shooting the feature film Monogamy with director Dana Adam Shapiro, and the new Sony web series Woke Up Dead, co-starring Jon Heder. Now I’m in pre-production on a new film that will start shooting in the next few months. There are a lot of other exciting projects brewing in my corner, so it’s going to be a dizzy busy year ahead, and this engine’s ready to roar.
If the gallery below isn’t enough to satiate your Meital hunger, then head over to these links to see her in a few live-action projects.
