The Wire has come full circle.

When the first few seasons originally aired, not a lot of people paid attention except for critics who decided to forgo writing a usual review and instead immediately get on their knees to fellate show creator David Simon. As the show kept on picking up viewers by word-of-mouth, and people actually started watching it, the moisture and intensity of the oral manipulation heightened exponentially. Soon, you couldn’t get away from your hipster neighbor or favorite radio host touting The Wire as “the greatest show of all time” in between deep-throated gulps of Simon’s man seed.

But then, as the blowjob-ridden praise got to the point where if you hadn’t caught a season of the show you were looked at as faulty as a human being, the backlash began. People started to suggest that the show wasn’t really that good. (How could it be, after it was overly-hyped so much?) And soon people were ignoring the advice of their neighbors and going out of their way to not watch the show, deciding it would be better to be a contrarian.
