Must-Read: Hairstyles for 2012

We are not the ones to give advice about haircuts. Our haircut generally goes in one of two directions: Getting it cut and then letting it fall where it may, or not getting it cut and letting it grow upwards. Oh, maybe we’ll take a brush to it now and then, but we are not getting stylish at all. Which, listen, it works for us. That’s fine. But that is not the way it is with most gents. Which is why today we’re highlighting this great article over at AskMen.com regarding the best hairstyles that you guys can maintain on your heads for the new year.

Now here's a hip haircut for you

Over at the article, they take a gander at a handful of haircuts and then give us two different versions, both the Classic look and a new Trendy take on it. For example, looking at the “Double Slick” haircut, which includes parting the hair somewhere near the middle and then slicking it backwards, here is what they propose as the new Trendy 2012-style take on it:

Trendy Take: To adopt 2012?s double slick in a less traditional way, check out the style sported by actor Michael Pitt. Reminiscent of the sharp hairstyles favored by men in the early 20th century, this cut is characterized by hair that is significantly longer on the top than it is on the sides. To get this style, visit your barber and ask him to trim the hair on the crown of your head to a medium length and to remove weight from the sides of your head — the more daring you are, the shorter the bottom layers can go. At home, comb all of your hair back with a touch of styling product and run your fingers through your hair to achieve the double slick. This hairstyle works best with straight hair.

Now, after reading that, maybe we’ll actually go out and try a new hairstyle this year. 2012!
