Wake up!

We’ve all been there. In fact, for a lot of you reading this, it could be happening right now. You’re at work in front of your computer screen, and the day just couldn’t be going by any slower. You’re groggy, you’re tired, you can’t wait to get on the train to head back home and climb into your bed, and your computer screen is making faces at you, although you’re pretty sure that’s just in your head. It’s that afternoon crash that everyone gets after eating lunch. And, worst of all, in a lot of those cases, you have that feeling of “blah” and “zzzz,” and yet you still have more stuff to get done before the boss will let you go home. If only there was a way that you could feel your energy be boosted towards the midway point of the day. Say, through something like an energy booster!

So today we’re heading to Men’s Fitness as they go through a variety of energy boosters that will keep your work-energy up when that terrible mid-afternoon crash comes. Among their selections:

Experiment With Breakfast

If you’re waking up to the same old meal every day and then routinely crashing by mid-afternoon, consider a breakfast reboot. In a study published in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition, high-fiber, carb-rich meals were associated with the highest levels of mental alertness in the hours leading up to lunch. To add fiber and carbs, top a whole-wheat English muffin with natural peanut butter, a sliced banana, and raisins. To increase protein, a whey protein shake will do the trick. Everyone’s needs are different, so the idea is to experiment and find what works for you.

Give it a try, and all of them a try, and then get back to work you slacker!
