Must-Read: How to Get Rid of Smelly Feet

We’re going to honest about something up top here before we continue. We have smelly feet. Here’s the deal with them. They don’t necessarily stink all of the time, so much as they sweat profusely and when they sweat they tend to get stinky because of the shoes that we wear. But let me tell you, there is no worse feeling than being asked to take off your shoes and the entire area suddenly reeking of gross mayonnaise.

Which is why today we’re heading on over to Men’s Health where they have a list of six ways that you can actually de-smell your feet. For instance, among the pieces of advice that they’re giving us:

Soak in saltwater

Salt pulls moisture out of your skin, reducing the amount of bacteria that can survive there, says Al D’Angelantonio, III, DPM, podiatrist and assistant professor of surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. In a tub or large bowl of warm water, dissolve 1/2 to 1 c kosher salt. Soak your feet for 20 minutes. Do this every day for two weeks.

Add some vinegar

If you want to create an inhospitable environment for bacteria, bathe your tootsies in vinegar. It has a drying effect so the bacteria starve, says Williamson. Mix one part vinegar with two parts water in a tub or large bowl. Soak your feet for 30 minutes once a day for a week.

So head on over to the above link in order to check out the rest of the tips, including what to do with your shoes when the smell has already soaked itself in completely. And then get to fixing that terrible smell of yours post-haste! Because, let me tell you guys, girls do notice that kind of thing.
