Must-Read: Fix Your Sleep
We’ve spent a lot of time around these parts preaching and preaching about the importance of sleep. If you don’t get a good night’s sleep, your next day is pretty much completely destroyed. Sure, you can mask a little of that with some coffee in the morning and maybe a few doses of 5-Hour Energy throughout the day. But as far as having a productive day that day after some terrible sleep, you are pretty much out of luck. And while there are things that you can do to avoid feeling groggy, there are even MORE things you can do the night before that will help you rest. Or, more accurately, things you should AVOID the night before in order to make sure that you can rest easy that night.
Which is why today we’re heading over to Men’s Fitness where they have a list of six of the worst habits that you’re doing at night that are disturbing your ability to rest.
Who doesn’t enjoy a little late night channel surfing? According to Pennsylvanian researchers, it’s the top late-night activity and one that takes up close to half of the two pre-bedtime hours. Researchers also noted late night viewing results in chronic sleep debt and that viewers were prone to sleeping in and going into work late in an attempt to compensate for lost time. Our advice: Tune out Leno or TiVo it. If you think getting quality sleep is difficult now, it only gets tougher if you’re suddenly unemployed in today’s job market.
That’s right. Turn off that TV. While you’re at it, get rid of the computer, pick up a good book, and pass out at a reasonable hour. Feeling energized for the next day is the best first step to making sure you have a productive one.
