How to Flirt on Tinder
The app which matches you with singles within a fixed distance has revolutionized the way we date. The hard work of finding out if the other person is interested in you has been taken care of, and it is now up to you to make the most of it. Dating has never been easier, but now with the illusion of an endless sea of hotties on the other end of the app, in some ways it is has never been more difficult to set yourself apart from the pack.
You may have met through an app designed to set up anonymous sex, but do not assume that she is down just because she liked your pictures. If she decides that you’re not putting in enough of an effort, a better guy is but a mere swipe away. Flirting on Tinder is different to flirting at the bar, as you already know that she is attracted to you. However, you cannot skip all of the social conventions on your way to the bedroom.
She is having countless other conversations at the same time as yours. You will be just another nobody, unless you make your conversation with her memorable. Do not use a corny or vulgar pick-up line. Pick-up lines can work in real life if executed well, precisely because most guys do not have the courage to use one. However, on Tinder, every second guy thinks he is being original by saying “Are your legs sore from running through my dreams?” and the most likely outcome is that your conversation ends up on the internet for others to laugh at. It is best to start simple, with a “Hi, what are you up to?” type of line, before quickly moving to a real conversation. Try to use her responses to make your conversation unique and memorable. Ask her about her interests and relate them back to yours.
You swiped right on her profile, so she knows you find her attractive. You do not need to then compliment her on her appearance. She is probably hearing the exact same compliments from every other guy on Tinder. You may think you are coming across as sweet, but most likely she thinks you are sleazy. Also, keep in mind that she may have given her photos the Photoshop treatment, so the very feature you are trying to compliment may not actually exist. Wait until your real-life meeting before praising her appearance.
Many Tinder conversations never get into real life. You need to find a way to bring it into real life, preferably without coming across as too desperate. Try to find a common interest that can segue into a date. The most basic way to do this is to get the conversation onto food. If she mentions she loves ice-cream, do some quick Googling to find out about any new or unique ice-cream places in your city. Then, tell her that you’ve heard of this really cool ice-cream place. At this point, she will say something like “we should go there!” but if she does not, you should say it.
