What shoes do you wear with tan pants?
The monochrome color scheme is devastatingly stylish at the moment. Be bold and follow the trend with light colored, tan pants.
The shades may be named after various skin colors, but there are really no restrictions when it comes to pairing light colored pants with any skin tone. While wearing tan pants is quite a different look on dark skin as opposed to light skin, it is stylish either way.
Your shoes should be brown
When it comes to tan, beige, or nude pants, there is only one choice when it comes to the color of your shoes: brown. It is up to you if you go for a mid-brown or a rich chocolate brown. The darker the shade of brown of your pants, the greater the range of shades which will look good on your shoes.
Once you become more comfortable in your nude colored pants, you could possibly experiment with dark blue or even dark green shoes. Other than these, there are no other acceptable colors to pair with beige pants.
Do not wear black shoes with tan pants. It is too harsh a look. This does make things difficult, as many men only own one pair of good shoes that are invariably black. A pair of dress shoes in an alternate color is an essential addition to your wardrobe, not just to ride out the trend towards tan pants but also for occasions on which you want a softer look.
Match your belt to your shoes
Your belt should be brown leather, preferably matched exactly to your shoes, as per the usual style rules. There is a little more freedom to mix different kinds of leather when you are sticking to a traditional color palette; when it comes to light brown pants, it is best to keep all leather accessories as consistent as possible so your outfit looks well put together.
Dress shoes are best
Must your shoes and belt be leather- or at least a good imitation? When it comes to nude colored pants, yes. Anything less will look trashy.
The rules are different for white pants
White pants and light colored pants have some things in common, but there are some key differences in how you wear them. Nude or tan colored pants fit perfectly with the muted color palette which is currently trendy, whereas white pants are a far more striking look. White pants are a throwback to the 1980s, and they make a strong statement. When wearing white pants, your shoes and socks are part of the statement. This gives you more freedom to contrast colors. White pants can be paired with light colored (but not white) shoes for a softer look, or dark colored shoes for a deliberately striking look. You could even wear black shoes and socks, despite this being a poor choice when paired with light brown pants. With fashions as they are at the moment, I would not suggest wearing white pants unless it is for a themed party.
