Ad Watch: Burger King Promotes Deep Throating

The fine ad wizards working for Burger King sure know how to get their customers’ mouths watering. I mean, who doesn’t head over to their local BK, give a nice long look at the menu and think to themselves, “Gee, which one of these would I want to deep throat like a big veiny dick?” The answer: The new BK Super Seven Incher.

The ad, via Copyranter, not-so-subtly compares the seven-inch product to a thick and juicy penis. And if the name itself wasn’t enough to bring up images of penii dancing in your head – what else does one think about as soon as the phrase “seven incher” is uttered – there’s the word “Blow” right there in the large copy, front and center. The troubling aspect of this is that the “sub sandwiches are dicks” idea is a trend. The above ad comes hot on the heels of this other piece of work by Quizno’s promoting their new Torpedo sandwiches, an ad that includes its own fair share of sexual innuendo and “stick your sandwich, by which I mean dick, in me” jokes. How long before McDonald’s starts to promote its Big Macs by using ending with the phrase “That’s what she said!”? Or Wendy’s promotes its dollar menu by hinting that that’s how much it’ll cost to get a fine piece of that young red head’s ass? Or In-N-Out runs a commercial with only a close-up of a couple’s genitals banging away?

The point is, when I’m eating food, I don’t want to think about dicks. Please stop.
