Must-Read: Picking Up Girls at Gym
So you’re sitting there, pumping away on the machine, when you spot the most attractive woman you’ve ever seen in your life running on the treadmill. You, obviously, are not looking your best — seeing as you’re drenched in sweat and get kind of red in the face after working so strenuous — and she seems pretty into her run, so you just kind of wait it out. As it tends to do, this gives you an entire array of reasons why you shouldn’t talk to her, why it’ll seem creepy, why you should just go back to your reps and pretend like all of this didn’t happen. Inevitably, you talk yourself out of it. She finishes up with the workout, towels up, and heads out back into the city wilderness, never to be seen again.
An all-too-common turn of events. Picking up girls at the gym is really hard. While we’re already detailed our own methods, there’s no such thing as having too much knowledge. Which is why today we’re highlighting at article over at Men’s Fitness that offers an assortment of tips for how to pick up ladies at the gym. Here’s rule number one:
Rule #1: Never interrupt a girl’s workout to introduce yourself.
First of all, most girls take their workouts just as seriously as you do. Plus, girls are often self-conscious about how they look while they’re working out. They don’t want to be interrupted mid-run (sweating profusely, breathing heavily), mid-lunge (positioned awkwardly), or mid-lift (facially contorted) to respond to you.
The Fix: Wait until after their workout is over before actually making a move, then comment on how you noticed them running, lunging, or lifting impressively. You’ll definitely earn some extra points.
