Today we’re going to take another brief hiatus away from posting, seeing as it’s the day after New Years and most everyone is still reeling from that food, booze and football hangover from the weekend (and, most importantly, everyone’s not at work, so really whatever we post is simply going to fall in the unpopulated digital forest of the Internet). But with everyone firmly in the mind to look ahead (hey, 2011, go fuck yourself, don’t let the door hit you on the ass, etc.) we decided to spend this post talking about one way to stay healthy in 2012.
Sure, a lot of times we showcase various tips for maintaining your body at the gym, or healthy foods you should be eating, or junk food you should keep as far away from your body as possible. But today, thanks to the folks over at Men’s Health, we’re going to highlight a much more fun and exciting way to stay healthy:
It ups your immunity. Ejaculation increases levels of the hormone cortisol, says Jennifer Landa, M.D., a specialist in hormone therapy. Cortisol, which usually gets a bad rap as a havoc-wrecking stress hormone, actually helps regulate and maintain your immunity in the small doses. “Masturbation can product the right environment for a strengthened immune system,” she says.
