3 Style Icons that Will Forever Change Your Style
If you’re looking for fashion inspiration, those weird outfits on the catwalks may be too much for you. And for good reason: who’d want to wear embarrass themselves by wearing such extravagant outfits day by day?
You’re looking for role models. People who a lot of other people like that also have a great sense of style. I’m going to give you 3 of them, along with the secrets that men them all STYLE ICONS.
When someone asks me “Who’s the best men’s style icon?”, the first name that pops into my head is, without a doubt,?Johnny Depp. Everyone has seen his Pirates of the Caribbean performances but few men have bothered to see what he dresses like in real life.
This will surprise you. Johnny dresses very casual and, more often than not, he over-accessorizes.
Wearing too many accessories is seen as a faux pas by many style experts but don’t rely too much on what other people say. Outfits like Johnny’s, with 3-4 bracelets and 2-3 rings plus a pendant, all in one outfit, can attract A LOT of female attention.
One last thing: if you’re going the “rings and bracelets way”, make sure you wear mostly t-shirts. Keep dress shirts for when you’re only wearing maybe 1-2 bracelets and 1-2 rings (if any).
Is Johnny Depp too casual for you? That’s not a problem: direct your attention to the famous football player, David Beckham.
Unlike Johnny, who rarely wears shirts, David likes blazers and dress/business shirts a lot. He doesn’t wear too many accessories: sometimes you’ll see him with a watch, sometimes wearing a scarf.
He does seem to like dress shirts which are at the basis of the amazing trend that’s been going on for quite some time now (and won’t fade away anytime soon): preppy style.
A few other clothing items that David likes include:
– cardigans
– waistcoats
– beanies
And who doesn’t know that unique way in which David tucks his shirt, the half-tuck? It will give you a cool and a relaxed look that most men will never be able to match.
If style icon #1 was super casual and style icon #2 was a little more formal, let’s take a look at someone of which you can safely say he’s in love with suits: Jon Hamm.
Although he doesn’t like to wear too much color or to mix patterns, you’ll find Jon to be an excellent style icon if you want (or have to) wear suits every day. Just check out Mad Men and pay attention to his role as Don Draper. You’ll find a different outfit in each episode that will surely give you tons of ideas on how to match your own suits.
