Marvel Talking With ABC About ‘Avengers’ TV Series
Would a show about a team of superheroes play well after “Modern Family”? How about “Shark Tank”? That’s just what ABC execs are wondering as they ponder moving forward with a potential series based on the Avengers comic book franchise.
According to a recent article from Deadline, Marvel and ABC are discussing the creation of a drama series set in the world of the Avengers, the same superhero team that appeared in this year’s mega-successful film aptly titled “The Avengers.”
This possible Avengers drama is in very early stages of development; there are no specifics as to plot or characters. The show may not even include characters from the blockbuster film. One idea being thrown around is for some sort of “high-concept cop show.”
With “The Avengers” taking in more than $1 billion dollars at the box office this summer, you can bet they’ll be some interest from both comic book geeks and average Joes alike.
Along with a possible Avengers series, ABC Studios has been working on getting a Hulk series off the ground. If things keep up, ABC just might be the go-to place for superhero drama. Hey, I’ll take a series based on Ant-Man over more seasons of “Grey’s Anatomy” any day.
