3 things to know about Tinder in Olympic Village

Condom allotments, shirtless profile pics and Instagram accounts

Tinder activity has been heating up in Rio among Olympic athletes. Here are a few things to know:

1. Many condoms get handed out

According to this article in The Daily Dot:

The dating lives of Olympic athletes are one of the most entertaining bits of speculation surrounding the summer and winter events. This year, organizers supplied athletes with 450,000 condoms, or about 42 condoms per athlete, more than any other previous Olympics, including the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Of the dating pool during the event in Russia two years ago, snowboarder Jamie Anderson said: “Tinder in the Olympic Village is next level.”

The summer games is taking place in one of the world’s sexiest cities for the next week and a half, and athletes are once again turning to the most popular dating app for swiping and judging potential mates. And you can see for yourself just how “next level” Olympic Tinder is.

2. Many of the athletes’ Tinder profile pictures are being posted to an Instagram account

According to this article in Elite Daily:

However, after learning about the sportsswipe Instagram account, it appears roughly half a million condoms may not be enough. This Instagram account is a collection of Tinder and Bumble profile pics of the athletes competing in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.

Basically, a lot of Olympians are on Tinder and Bumble, and it looks like they’re all trying to get it in.

It appears one of the more famous Olympic athletes on Tinder is US swimmer Ryan Lochte, who, based on the following alleged profile photos, is definitely trying to multitask this month in Rio.

3. The person who started the Instagram has an ‘interest in the love life of professional athletes’

According to this article in Paper Mag:

And while the person behind both accounts said their interest in the love life of professional athletes began at last year’s Tour de France and continued into explorations of the Winter X Games, the World Rowing Cup and the Ice Hockey World Championship, Rio is (obviously) their biggest undertaking yet — though we think they’ve already nailed it, 10/10. After all, from a quick look, it seems like you really do have a chance with a good portion of our Olympics of Thirst bracket. Check out a few of our favorite Tinder entries below and get swiping.
