Texting your social skills away

I love text messaging and technology and I was probably the first of all my friends to really start using text messaging at its beginning in the US. It’s such a great way to deliver short thoughts to friends and family and we have all become involved in it whether we want to use it or not.

The problem is becoming too involved in it. I had a huge communication problem with my ex girlfriend and it seemed the only way she could really tell me what she wanted was through a text message. That is a big problem for me…I need to look in your eyes as we discuss important issues, feel the passion (if its there). We would go on and on over text, probably spiraling things out of control because it’s just text, no emotions or voice tonality behind it. Simple words and phrases become insults and personal attacks and before you know it… bye bye.

We’ll at least it’s good to know I am not alone. It seems more and more people are having these text disorder issues while dating. I read some good stories that inspired this post here.
