The Hangover Movie Review
Last night, Mike Stoute and I attended the New York City premier of The Hangover.
I’ve been a fan of director Todd Phillips since Road Trip, Old School, and Starsky and Hutch… so I was pretty pumped going into The Hangover.
The premise is the perfect set up for a comedy:
Four guys head to Vegas for a bachelor party. They wake up after an explosive night… and forget everything. They also quickly find that they are missing one of their friends, Doug, the groom who is all set to get married the next day.
The rest of the movies has them retracing their steps from the night before, looking for clues as to where Doug just might be.
The movie is no Old School…
But is extremely entertaining- and laugh out loud funny in many parts.
Todd Phillips usual cast of suspects Vince Vaughn, The Wilson brothers, Will Ferrel.. have been replaced by some new guns of comedy: Bradley Cooper (playing the sleazily good school teacher Phil) Ed Helms (The Office Star makes his HILARIOUS big screen debut) Zack Galifianakis (who seems to be an up and coming comedic actor)
There are also some classic cameos that Phillips is known for, Mike Tyson (signing Phil Collins “In the Air Tonight”), The Daily Show’s Rob Riggle, Ken Jeong (who flashes us his penis), and the tasty Heather Graham.
I’m not a professional movie review writer, so I’m not going to bore you with an insightful critique of the movie. Nor do I want to list all the funny parts and spoil it for you.
The movie definitely has enough funny parts to keep it moving nicely along. And the last two minutes of the movie provide a shit load of laughs as well. And I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this will be one of those movies that will get funnier and funnier the more times you see it.
And you get to see Heather Graham’s titties (although we’ve seen them plenty times before)
Sometimes the movie tries too hard to be funny, but if you go into with the realization that it is not going to be Old School, and just sit back and enjoy… you’ll be more than satisfied.
Go see this… you won’t be dissapointed.
