Four Ways to Dress Yourself Tall
Sick of the ridicule and rejection you face because you?re short? If you?re bothered by being vertically challenged, there are actually plenty of tricks you can use to make yourself seem tall. While you can?t actually make yourself physically taller, you can create the illusion of it.
Are you short and pudgy? Vertical stripes are your friend. They are an instant way to make you look taller. This is a fairly well-known trick ? everyone knows horizontal stripes make you look wider and vertical make you look taller- but don?t let that stop you. Even if others realise that you?re trying to make yourself appear taller, it doesn?t stop the illusion from working. You can even create this look in a more subtle manner with the right knitted sweater. Choose knits with a vertical design, drawing the eye upwards.
Keeping a similar color palette for your entire outfit makes elongates your body. Conversely, a top and pants in completely different colors make you look like you?ve been cut into two shorter pieces. You also need your belt to be a similar color to your outfit, or the illusion is destroyed. For best results, wear the same color pants and top but with the top in a slightly lighter shade. This works best with neutral colors such as grey or navy. While you will still look just as tall in, for example, head-to-toe bright red, you will also be a walking fashion disaster. Your outfit doesn?t have to be completely colorless though. You can put a contrasting color jacket on top, and you will still look tall from the front. Try black jeans with a dark grey top and a brightly colored jacket for a stylish and height-inducing look.
If the material of your pants bunches up around your ankles because they are too tall for you, that?s a dead giveaway that you?re not as tall as you are pretending to be. Ditto for your sleeve length- sleeves that cover your hands indicate short arms, emphasizing how small you are. You need your clothing to be perfectly fitted. You may need to get your clothes tailored, but you should never boast about doing so. Pretend your clothes are straight off the rack, to trick people into thinking you share the dimensions of standard sized clothes. Particularly if you are skinny as well, you want your clothes to be fitted rather than too loose, which will just draw attention to your tiny frame.
Ever looked longingly at a women?s pair of high heels, wishing there was a masculine equivalent? You?re in luck, because such a miracle shoe does exist. Height increase shoes are designed to look like regular shoes on the outside, but have a hidden heel giving you a few precious inches. You can get a surprising range of styles, including formal/work shoes, runners, and casual shoes. They are also not as expensive as you might expect. The only problem is, once someone meets you in your height increase shoes, you?re going to have to wear the same shoes every time you see them.
