6 Healthy Foods That Will Keep Your Hunger Pangs Away

It?s always difficult trying to find the right balance when losing weight and preventing hunger. Cutting back on calories usually leads to us feeling hungry and many dieters find themselves off the wagon pretty quickly.

What you should be aiming to do is build an eating plan which you can sustain as a lifestyle, rather than a quick-fix. For example, choosing a food which you enjoy and makes you feel full (providing if it?s healthy, of course!). Remember, the trick to feeling full is not eating large portions, it?s finding the foods that contain nutrients which help satiety. This list over at Huffington Post is a good place to start:

1. Lentils

Beans and legumes contain a terrific combination of nutrients to help keep you?feeling full.?They are loaded with soluble fiber and protein. An excellent protein alternative for vegetarians, they are a good source of iron, magnesium, potassium, and folate. These heart-healthy nutrients may also help to reduce blood cholesterol and triglycerides.

2. Quinoa

Quinoa makes for a healthy and satiating addition to a meal. This ancient grain contains an array of vitamins and minerals including iron, magnesium, potassium, and vitamin E as well as protein and fiber, a winning combination to helping you feel full. And no, quinoa is not fattening. A ? cup of cooked quinoa contains approximately 100 calories.

Essentially, you want to be eating foods that are high in protein, fiber and good fats. All of these will help keep hunger at bay whilst also aiding weight loss.

Avoid the ?miracle? deprivation diets ? they?re impossible to maintain long-term and can actually lead to you becoming heavier than when you first started dieting. Make sure you?re getting the right amount of nutrition on board and the rest will naturally follow.
