Ok it’s sold as a toy for like 10 years olds, but the word on the street is that grown-ups (and 26 year old children like myself) are buying the EyeClops Night Vision Goggles like crazy. No clue how well the work, but I wouldn’t be expecting military standard issue googles for $68.88. Looks like you can pick it up just about anywhere including Amazon. Something about this video below makes me want to use them to run drugs over the Canadian border.

I made a version of this some years ago out of a cheap video camera and a headset tv (I-glasses). From the ad, the eyeclops seems to work the same way, but nicely integrated. the trick is to get an infra red spotlight to extend the range of the on-board infra red spotlight. apparently the on board system has rather restricted range.

I can see no reason that you couldn’t look through a telescope by lining up the eyeclops camera with the scope. a long range infra red spotlight could then let you see long distances in infra red,

one advantage the eyeclops has over classical light amplification night vision is that it will work as well in daylight as at night, so if a light goes on, you should be fine.

a disadvantage is that you must illuminate the area you wish to see in infra red, thus allowing people with similar systems to see where you are and to see your light source.
