Your Obligatory Valentine’s Day Post

Valentine's Day sucks?

Valentine’s Day is terrible. Or great. It really depends on what stage of the relationship you’re currently in. If you’re in the beginning totally romantic stages, Valentine’s Day is a wonderful celebration of love and the perfectly rational and realistic idea that everything will work out completely well with this person and you’ll spend the rest of your lives together. If you’re in the sad, prolonged ending of a relationship, Valentine’s Day is a cursed affair, knowing that the slow freight train of an end is coming and you can do nothing to stop it. But maybe, just for this night, you can put that aside and have a good time, which almost makes it more depressing. And if you’re in neither, if you’re single, then there’s really two ways to look at it: either you’re completely depressed because you don’t have someone, or you can be extraordinarily happy (our recommended viewpoint) with the fact that you don’t have to spend money and plan all sorts of events for this Hallmark holiday.

All of which is a(n extraordinary long) buildup to this pretty wonderful guide of navigating the harsh minefield that is Valentine’s Day by Men’s Health. Included in it: Instant Love Letters! The 9 Horrible Landmines of the Terrible Day! Something about Celebrity Couples! (You could probably skip this one.) Romantic IQ! So yeah, go check it out.

But even MORE important than that is your contribution to the comments below. How do you feel about Valentine’s Day? Are we saying anything wrong with the above rant? Want are your normal plans? What are you going to be doing this year? Use this post as your clearinghouse for all conversation regarding this day celebrating the (horror/perfection) of love.
