Sebastian Drake of the great hidden mic audio series, Master the Vibe, passed along this quote from the equally insighful author of The Art of Approaching, Joseph Mathews.  I believe this quote nicely sums up why men fear rejection so badly..

“Guys aren’t afraid of rejection. We get rejected all the time -we ask for a certain dish and a restaurant is out of it, and it’s no big deal. We ask a friend to come out to the movies and they’re not available and it doesn’t bother us. No, what we’re afraid of is JUDGEMENT - specifically judging ourselves. It’s not so much an attractive woman saying no to you that bothers most men - it’s having to look inside and re-assess who you are. Putting weight on your worth as a man based on how well a woman responds to you.”

This quote is very true. I’m not really afraid of the rejection, just more of being judged by others and myself. I’m afraid of being looked at as “not good enough” and “weak.” These fears used to always prevent me from talking to girls.
