Must-Read: Stop Drinking So Much

We love to drink. We do. It’s really some of the most fun, just heading over to a local watering hole and having a few drinks with the locals or friends and just having ourselves a night stumble back home. Unfortunately, that’s not exactly the best thing for our bodies. (If it was, well, then everyone would be doing it.) In fact, drinking as much as we do is probably really, really, really terrible for our bodies. But that’s not just us talking. That’s science.

drunk1And so today we’re heading on over to Men’s Fitness where they have a list of reasons that you need to quit boozing so much. One of the biggest reasons? Because it changes your muscle mass:

Throwing Back More than 2 Drinks a Day

The CDC has reported that men who drink 3-4 alcoholic drinks each day are at a higher risk of developing cancer of the mouth, neck, and throat. They are also twice as likely to develop liver cirrhosis and high blood pressure. Allow yourself at least two alcohol-free days each week. Binge drinking doesn’t only have serious health risks—it can also contribute to weight gain and prevent you from reaching your fitness goals.

And unlikely something like, say, a piggy bank, this doesn’t mean you can go a week without drinking and then just cash all 14 of them in on a weekend night. That’s not how this kind of thing works. Instead, just try to stay in the low range of drinks when you’re going out. Here’s a tip that we’ve learned along the way: Order a glass of water in between each beer. A lot of times it’s just about having something in your hand and some moisture in your throat. So get on out there and stop drinking so much, everyone!
