Video Gallery: Rest In Peace, Leslie Nielsen

The Thanksgiving holiday weekend was a nice time for rest and relaxation (even though, this year, “rest and relaxation” meant spending all of my time moving across town), but it took a dark turn on Sunday night when it was learned that the great comic actor Leslie Nielsen passed away.

Nielsen was a “guy’s guy” kind of actor, not only starring in a handful of movies that should be on the top of any fella’s favorite movie list, but also recognized that you can get more done when you stop taking yourself so seriously. Nielsen was one of That Guy actors, who appeared in any number of things in minor roles, trying to take his craft of acting as seriously as possible. But it wasn’t until he loosened up and starred in “Airplane!” — nearly 30 years into his career as a screen actor — that he became a household name. The lesson to take from this: Don’t be afraid to make a fool of yourself.

So, in honor of the great white-haired manly-man, let’s take a look at some of his best work. Rest in peace, Mr. Neilsen.
