3 things to know about Tinder’s other ‘share’ button

Because someone seemed to think mixing Tinder with work was a good idea

Having already introduced a share function that lets you share profiles with friends, Tinder has now created an option to pass along other users’ profiles to coworkers via apps that facilitate communication among employees. Here are three things to know:

1. Tinder started testing the feature in New York City

According to an article in Daily Mail:

Last month, Tinder passed matchmaking duties on to a few members with a ‘share button’ that lets them send profiles to friends via text.

And recent development shows that some members in the Big Apple are now able to play matchmaker with their co-workers.

The share button connects Tinder to various apps on your phone, including Slack and LinkedIn, allowing users to send their work companions profiles swiping in the app.

2.The feature is compatible with different apps

According to an article in Vanity Fair:

But Slack isn’t the only app that works with Tinder. VF.com found that Gmail and Tumblr do as well, though Facebook Messenger and Facebook do not. Business Insider identified a handful of others. “What if Slack is too private?” Business Insider muses. “Perhaps you want to share on LinkedIn.” Perhaps, indeed. You can share someone’s Tinder profile to LinkedIn, either with everyone you’re connected to or by tagging a specific person. You can also save a profile for reading later on Pocket. Or, less tastefully, you can add a person to a to-do list inside list-building app Wunderlist.

3. More trouble than it’s worth?

This article in The Frisky argues that this feature amounts to little more than a potential problem for human resources departments across the country:

Once a recipient gets the message, says Business Insider, they are now eligible to swipe left or right on the profile. Just like you once were. Wait, don’t you kind of want him back now?

Somewhere, there is an HR Manager drafting a memo asking employees to please refrain from sending one another photos of shirtless men on company time.
