Must-Read: The New Superfoods of 2014

Every year you can expect a few things: Someone is going to do something incredibly stupid and be ridiculed, people are going to die, a Kardashian is going to get married, some terrible sports player is going to get arrested for some horrendous crime, and a whole new slew of “superfoods” will be hitting your grocery stores and becoming the next big thing. What are superfoods, you ask? Well, they’re the plants and fruits and, occasionally, nuts that doctors point to as being the one thing you REALLY need to eat in order to have a healthy diet. For example, kale. Or pomegranate. Or, well, you get the picture. But every year, a new grouping of foods take precedence over what came before.

And so today we head on over to Men’s Fitness where they have a list of the 10 foods that are, no doubt about it, going to be blowing up your inbox in the calendar year 2014, as they’re the next big things in food. For example, among the foods that they list:

1. Pichuberries

“Pichuberries are going to be the next big superfruit in 2014,” says Manuel Villacorta, M.S., R.D., author of Peruvian Power Foods. “They’re all over California, Arizona, and Nevada already. They?re amazing because ? cup provides 39% of your vitamin D requirement, which is unheard of for a fruit.”
Pichuberries are small orange fruits, about the size of a cherry tomato. They come from the Andes of Peru and boast a tart, sweet flavor. In addition to vitamin D, pichuberries also contain vitamins C and B12, iron, protein, and cancer-fighting compounds called withanolides.

So head on over to the link provided above to check out the rest of the super-foods that you need to discover for 2014. And then get to being super!
